Overview
Gathering Centre 32 sits in the Burgan field, the largest producing oil field in Kuwait. A sour gathering centre collects crude from surrounding wells and separates gas, oil and water before export. Sour means the produced stream carries hydrogen sulphide, which is toxic at low concentrations and corrosive to steel. Everything on site is engineered around that: material selection, detection systems, permit discipline and evacuation planning.
MTC executed civil, electrical and instrumentation, and mechanical site support packages under Petrofac, the main EPC contractor.
Why it matters
This is MTC’s largest current package and its most demanding operating environment. Working inside a live sour service facility under a tier-one international EPC contractor means MTC’s HSE systems, documentation and supervision are held to the same standard as the main contractor’s own.
Site conditions
- Live sour service environment, with H₂S monitoring, gas detection and specific PPE requirements throughout
- KOC HSE Management System compliance, with permit-to-work governing every activity
- Journey management for oilfield access
- Interface coordination with the main contractor’s programme and with other trades on a shared site
Capabilities applied
The KWD 8.500M shown is MTC’s executed package only. The parent Petrofac GC-32 contract is a multi-billion-USD programme.
