Overview
Al Zour is the largest refinery ever built in Kuwait and one of the largest in the world. MTC held a site civil, manpower and support package under NSH Company.
MTC worked at Al Zour across three separate packages spanning 2018 to 2024, under three different main contractors. That repeat engagement across multiple contracts and multiple principals is the substantive point: not one job, but sustained presence on Kuwait’s largest industrial programme.
The three packages
2018 to 2021, marine and utilities support. KNPC with SK ecoplant. Mechanical and E&I support works. KWD 4.100M.
2020 to 2023, site civil, manpower and support. KNPC with NSH Company. KWD 4.800M.
2021 to 2024, offsites and utilities. Al Ghanim International. Civil and utility works. KWD 5.400M. This package was contracted under KIPIC, which merged into KNPC in 2026 and no longer exists as a separate entity. The reference is accurate for its period.
Why it matters
Refinery construction is unforgiving on sequencing. Offsites and utilities in particular have to be ready before the units they serve can be commissioned, so the work sits on the critical path with limited float. Holding three packages across six years, under three different main contractors, is evidence of consistent performance rather than a single successful bid.
Site conditions
- Multi-contractor site with heavy interface management
- KNPC contractor HSE requirements
- Sequencing constraints tied to the wider commissioning programme
Capabilities applied
Values shown are MTC’s executed packages only. Al Zour New Refinery Project overall is a multi-billion-USD programme.
