Overview
Terminal 2 is the largest civil aviation project in Kuwait’s history and the country’s most visible piece of public infrastructure currently under construction. MTC executed HVAC chiller and MEP works under Limak, the Turkish main contractor.
Why it matters
Airport terminal HVAC is not conventional building services. The volumes are enormous, the loads shift constantly with passenger flow and time of day, and the systems have to hold conditions across vast open spaces in Kuwaiti summer temperatures. Chiller installation at that scale requires plant capacity, lifting equipment and commissioning discipline that most MEP subcontractors cannot supply from their own resources.
It also anchors MTC’s buildings and MEP credentials against a landmark recognisable to anyone in Kuwait.
Site conditions
- Landmark public project under intense schedule and quality scrutiny
- International main contractor with its own inspection and QA regime
- Large-scale chiller plant: supply, installation, commissioning and balancing
